FAQ

Can we bring seating or have seating set up by a vendor?

Yes!  Please note that elopement packages are limited to a maximum of two hours which includes any unloading, set up/breakdown, and loading time.  The last car, including any vendors, must be out of the venue 2 hours after start time for elopements. Pohakupuna Beach Club does not provide any seating.

Can I use outside vendors that are not on your recommended list?

Absolutely! We support our local businesses and are happy to work with any vendors you may have in mind to help make your elopement perfect.  We only request that we speak with them at least 7 days before the ceremony so that they are familiar with our venue and are aware of our venue rules.

Who can attend the elopement?

If you chose the Aloha Package (Package A), only the couple and the officiant, photographer, are allowed to be at the ceremony. The State of Hawaii does not require a witness beyond the officiant at any marriage ceremonies performed in Hawaii. If you chose our Bliss Package (Package B), you may have up to 50 guests at your elopement ceremony.  Please note that we only allot space for 15 cars (including any vendors you have hired).

Can we have a small post elopement celebration at Pohakupuna Beach Club?

Of course!  Although our elopement packages are only for the ceremony itself, we are happy to host a post celebration.  Please fill out our form above for venue information.

Can me and my newlywed spouse stay on the property before or after our ceremony?

Bungalow rentals are for monthly stays only and can’t be rented for less than 30 days.

Do you have parking available?

Yes!  We provide private guaranteed parking for up to 15 cars (including any vendors).  You don’t have to fight for a space at a public parking lot. There is also street parking available just outside of the venue along Pohakupuna Road and Fort Weaver Road. The use of shuttles for larger parties is also recommended.

Do we need to obtain a permit to get married on the beach?

No.  We are a private venue located on the beach.  If you get married on any other public beach in Hawaii, you must obtain a permit. Although we must allow public access easement of our beach for the public to walk through, the ceremony is performed on our private property before the property shoreline (still access to the sand) and does not require a permit.

How do I obtain a marriage license?

Please visit: https://emrs.ehawaii.gov/emrs/public/home.html

From the website:

“It's highly recommended that couples complete the online application with payment by credit card before meeting with an agent.

Both the prospective spouses or prospective partners must appear together in person before a license agent to obtain a marriage or civil union license.

Please note that your online application will be available for the issuance of a marriage or civil union license by an agent in the State of Hawaii up to one year from the application date. After a year, your application will be removed from the system. There will be no refunds for unused applications;”

We’ve changed our minds, can we get a refund?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds but we will work with you to change dates, or offer credit!

Are bounce castles/houses permitted?

Proof on an insurance policy that covers us as your venue must provided. A waiver release in case of injury must also be signed.

Can we bring our dog to our wedding?

Your four legged family member is definitely welcome! Dogs must be leashed, cleaned up after and be accompanied by a handler at all times. We recommend using Wolfpack Adventures if you are in need of handler so you and your guests may focus on your special day.

I would like to do walkthrough of the property, when are you available?

We conduct walkthroughs daily by appointment only from:

10am - 130pm and 400pm - 630pm

Coordinate a time by filling out our form or emailing us.

Are the use sparklers or fireworks permitted?

Small sparklers are okay but fireworks are not.
