About

Our Story.

Pohakupuna Beach Club started in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic as a gathering place for close friends and family. Our space served as a fun and safe retreat to commune, which organically formed a “club” amongst our small circle. Since then our club has grown its network and now includes “members” across the world. It has been our goal to share this space with the community and to bring the cultural richness and beauty of this side of the island to light.

We are a Filipino owned, family run venue who have much love for the land and respect for the Hawaiian islands. Our grandfather, Bonifacio Baris, first set foot on Kauai in the 1930s during the great Philippine migration of Ilocanos who sought work in the sugarcane fields.  Our paternal grandparents were also educators on Oahu when they first immigrated here to Ewa Beach during the 1970s. With our history, our family dedicates to share Hawaii’s magic and traditions as well as help preserve its environment + culture for generations to come.
